The Nomad and I are going on a North Island tour soon, which is pretty awesome. This week I had an unexpected surprise. My wife messaged me to inform me that she won a 10-Run Pass at the Fourforty Mountain Bike Park near Auckland. It’s been somewhere I’ve wanted to head to for some time. The competition was run by Wellington online accounting company Xero which Fourforty uses for their business. A big thank you to Xero.
Since I live in Wellington I started to think about the what was the best way to get there. I could fly, but the cost of flights, car hire etc to spend a day or two riding doesn’t make sense. I’d rather drive and turn this into a North Island tour. My Wife will be studying heavily soon, so she’s quite happy for the peace and quiet whilst I’m away.
The plan so far is this:
- Drive to Auckland, stay at a local Campsite and spend a day or two at Fourforty
- Head to Rotorua for two or three days riding in the Whakarewarewa Forest.
I really excited to be doing this. It’ll be happening probably in late March or early April. I realised recently that it’s only just over six months until I head to Vancouver and this will be excellent preparation.
I’m in the early stages of My 100 Day Fitness Challenge.Winning this pass for Fourforty really has happened at the best time. It’s given me a reason to take the Nomad to some amazing destinations in New Zealand. My motivation to train harder has just had a massive boost!
And, of course I’ll be covering it here and including loads of videos and photos.
